Author Louise Penny’s beloved Chief Inspector Armand Gamache imparts four lessons to new agents in the Sûreté homicide division. While the lessons are offered as a crash course in catching killers, Gamache’s advice can prove helpful in many real-life scenarios.
The statements that lead to wisdom require that you learn to say:
- I don’t know.
- I’m sorry.
- I need help.
- I was wrong.
Chief Inspector Gamache may be fictional, but his advice couldn’t be more real. These words can go a long way to building trust, showing vulnerability, and receiving the assistance needed to be successful.
Such simple statements, but with such power, and for too many, they become impossible to say aloud. Don’t let pride kill your voice; instead, be humble enough to benefit from Gamache’s wisdom.
