For years, Kelly Blue Book has been the gold standard source for assessing a vehicle’s value. Long before there was KBB.com, sellers and buyers alike would turn to its trusted pages to gain an understanding of the market price or trade-in price and use it as a benchmark for negotiations.

Kelly has (finally) embraced its role as a go-between and now offers to be the broker between a private seller and a car dealer. Consumers can enter their vehicle information on KBB, receive a firm quote, and select one of the local dealers that have partnered with Kelly and committed to honoring their pricing. In addition to gaining additional users, I’m sure Kelly makes a commission on its referrals but everyone saves time in the process.

Think about where you can be the bridge between people who use your services to access other services. You go through the doctor or veterinarian to get a prescription; students need syllabi to order textbooks, or gyms become middle agents for fitness clothes or equipment — can you make referrals that also make you revenue? If you are the trusted resource, benefit from it by making it easy for others to capitalize on that expertise.
