I shook my head when I came upon this sign listing all the things the Fine Jewelry Department doesn’t do. No battery installation. No ear piercing. No layaway. Half of the sign consists of handwritten “no’s.”
Why not focus on what you can do instead? Make a new sign that says: “FREE Ring Sizing! Special Orders Available.”
When you catch yourself listing out what others can’t do, work to reframe your message into helping clarify what is permissible. We all feel better receiving a “yes” instead of a “no.”
