My favorite beach in Michigan does not have a lifeguard, but instead uses a series of colored flags to alert swimmers to the water conditions. They take it a step further and print the words “Yellow” or “Green” on the corresponding flags to help those with color blindness distinguish the warnings. It’s a simple step, but it would be invaluable to those who require it.

Think about what your organization can do to address people with varied needs. Adding a word, a picture, a railing, a microphone, a bench, etc., may not seem much to you, but could make the world a bit more accessible for others.
