One of the iconic landmarks in downtown Denver is the Big Blue Bear at the Colorado Convention Center. While we’ve all seen hundreds of statues that prominently face outward, the bear gets its fame not only because of its size, but because of its positioning. The bear appears to be peering into the building, leaving tourists to pose outside with the bear’s rear or side, but allowing those inside to view it as well.
Officially titled I See What You Mean, the 40-foot bear is visible from both stories of the center and is a photo favorite for attendees as well as those passing by. If the bear had been crafted with the traditional placement, it would have negated the branding opportunity for each convention to place its logo in front of the bear to create the perfect social media photo.
Remember the bear the next time you’re doing something in the usual format. Maybe it’s time to peer in a different direction instead.
