When I woke up in my hotel room and saw a piece of paper under the door, I assumed it was a copy of the bill. Instead, it was a flyer offering me a reduced rate if I stayed an extra night. “Wait! There’s more to explore,” it read. “Why make tonight your last night?”
We had flight plans and did not capitalize on the offer, but it got me thinking about how this message was timed. It wasn’t offered when we made the reservation or when we checked in; rather, it appeared in that last minute when many were surrounded by the beautiful mountains and feeling like “I hate to leave.”
Think about how your messages are timed. Do you communicate bonuses too early in the process or miss the opportunity altogether? Think about the Courtyard and slip your offer in at just the right moment.
