The act of making art is therapeutic, enjoyable, and inspiring but too many people shy away from artistic pursuits because they fear they lack the talent. Our library helped overcome that hurdle by providing a special event: Bad Art Night.

People 18 and over were invited to make art — without any regard to the quality or appeal of the end product. “You bring the enthusiasm and we’ll provide the glitter,” their advertisement read. “The talentless will be applauded.” Doesn’t it sound like fun?

Think about whether there is a way for your group of friends to pursue an activity for the pure joy of it. Bad cooking night? Bad-for-your-diet dinner? Bad poetry writing? Bad bowling? The list could go on but all of them sound like an evening where the good times will prevail.
