I think the path to successful leadership is pairing with a deputy that complements your skills. The responsibilities and diverse talents that are required to lead are often too much to do solo. Knowing where your strengths are and partnering with another to expand your repertoire can often be the key to effective change and leadership.

Think of these examples of pairings:
— An extrovert and introvert
— Strategy focus and implementation focus
— Orchestration and lyrics
— Policy focus and practice
— Art and business
— Innovation and details
— Relationship focus and operational focus
— Philanthropy and mission delivery
— Managing the team and coaching the team
— Internal focus and external focus

Are you trying to do everything yourself? Maybe intentionally developing a confidante to complement you could enhance the effectiveness of both you and the organization.
